Kelly Dunbar, OTR/L, CHT

Kelly Dunbar is an occupational therapist and certified hand therapist who joined the Hanger Clinic upper limb team as a clinical therapy specialist in 2021.  She resides in Portland, OR and provides clinical consulting and support to therapists treating the upper limb amputee population in the western half of the country.  Her role includes instructing educational courses on upper limb prosthetic rehabilitation, presenting on this topic at conferences, and facilitating collaborative efforts between prosthetists and therapists to improve functional outcomes for prostheses users.  She has previously served as adjunct faculty at Pacific University, and she has guest lectured to OT and PT student programs throughout the country.  Prior to joining Hanger Clinic, Kelly has worked in the inpatient setting of a Level-I trauma center, followed by the hand therapy clinic, treating patients with a variety of upper extremity conditions, injuries, and surgeries.  Throughout her career as an OT, she has treated patients throughout the various stages of limb loss, from post-operative rehabilitation to advanced prosthetic training.  She has also been involved in research on prosthetic devices for use with both the adult and pediatric population, targeted muscle reinnervation, and implementing virtual reality into rehabilitation.
