April Cowan, OTD, OTR, CHT, is an Associate Professor of Instruction and Program Director of the Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the UTMB School of Health Professions. Dr. Cowan holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from UTMB and a Post-Professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Rocky Mountain University. Her scholarly interests include hand function assessment, evidence-based practice, post-burn rehabilitation, orthotic design and fabrication, physical agent modalities, education, and fieldwork education for hand therapy practice.
